Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First lesson in the first week is important as it helps me assess the art capacity and level of experience that the student has. I believe everyone has an art gene in them regardless of what they believe.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have IExperience teaching Art now for three years.
I am currently teaching art in a variety of forms and basic drawing classes for both school going kids as young as 6 and adults of all ages here in Texas. ( zip code:75056)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Currently group lessons to a max of 5-6 students are at $25/ hour. Private Lesson are to remain the same at $20/ hour.
How did you get started teaching?
A NJ teacher certificate and time as a sub for ELA and Art Department. I have started teaching Art curriculum for a year now.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all ages starting from 4 to elderly folks. I also do have wxperience working with adhd kids and autistic kids as well.
For seniors whatever accomodations you need we can make it happen.Just ask. I don't want you to feel to enjoy that season of your life is not possible.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I remember fondly two students of mine most recently that I used to teach at ages 6 and 7. Art really helped them express themselves. I was able to channel their energies to having them explore what they were best at with the art curriculum I had on hands.
Another elderly student of mine I helped get past her stigma with the ability to create and express herself. You should have seen her paintings from start to finish.Progress!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Everyone needs to draw and there is a vast amount of info out there on mediums and how to use them. You will be able to understand terms such as forms, scale, composition, volume, figurative, landscape etc. With my individual attention I am sure you will be able to see progress from first class to the end.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask for curriculum. Assess what you want in growing your art journey. Give yourself time. You are able to learn anything and how far you want to take it depends on you.
