Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We take a student from the beginning and work through basic skills and music reading to get you playing songs quickly and correctly. After learning a few songs with will add new skills and work through songs that include those new skills. After a while we let the student choose what they want to pursue but as teachers will still make suggestions along the way to keep pushing the student to improve and expand there skills and knowledge.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our teachers have taken private lessons themselves, college, studied with other musicians as well as being active musicians ourselves.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We have two instructors and bill by the month. Each payment includes 4 lessons which are a half hour each, usually once a week.
Tuition is either $125 or $110 a month depending upon the teacher.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching for my main instructor after taking lessons for about six years. I worked with him for about 12 years until opening my own studio and have been doing so ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have experience working with students of all ages, abilities and styles.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We have an annual 'Euphonic Live!' student concert that gives our students a chance to share their talents with the world! It has grown every year, everyone has a blast and we have overwhelming support. Our venue is amazing with lights, a large stage and a massive sound system!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
See if they offer a free lesson and find out if you feel comfortable and click with them. Havin a teacher you really like will help keep you motivated to practice and play! Do they have an organized, method curriculum? Is it a nice, clean and professional environment? Is this what they do for a living or just a side or college job? Don't necessarily go for the cheapest lessons you can find. A lot of times you pay for what you get as professionals of any industry are at a premium.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is the teachers method? Is it organized with a clear goal? I encourage our perspective students to ask about what guitar and gear might be right for their needs and interests.
