The Fiddle And Bow

About

Welcome to The Fiddle and Bow Studios! Music from a different perspective! Learn to love playing, practicing and writing music.

I have a BA in Classical Performance, a BA in Jazz Performance and a BA in Buisness. I had almost completed a Master’s Degree in Performance when a performance opportunity took me away from school and on the road to tour the U.S. And it has been an amazing experience.

I have been teaching private lessons for 15+ years. I started teaching my last year of high school and have been doing it ever since.

In the years I have been teaching my philosophy has changed slightly. Some students are naturals at reading where others can hear a melody and pluck it out. Some students can play with a metronome and others can’t even hear it!

The old ways of teaching had to be reexamined and every students has to have a lesson that is challenging their weaknesses and allowing their strengths to be recognized but not pandered to. In hopes of helping the student become a balanced musician able to play by ear and read music.

She teaches a range of musical styles for the violin from classical to fiddle to pop, as well as composing and arranging. She also takes into consideration what the students would like to learn.

Elizabeth is a great teacher who takes the time to get to know her students and what music they would be interested in playing. Shes willing to listen to what each student has to say and wants them to enjoy playing and not see it as a chore or something they have to do but something they want to do.

Liz has been our daughters violin teacher for over five years, and over that time, she has created and nurtured an incredible relationship with her through the love and joy of playing music. Our daughter loves her violin lessons with Liz and we, as her parents, are thrilled that she not only loves playing her violin, but that she is also passionate about and comfortable playing with others in many different environments, from sessions to orchestra and playing with friends or family at home. We absolutely love Liz and her enthusiasm, passion, flexibility, creativity, and approach to music!
