Our kids have been taking lessons here (drums & vocal coaching) for a few months now. Not only do they love their instructors and look forward to their Friday lessons, but as a direct result their math scores have improved at school as well. Public schools no longer offer what we had as kids for music education due to budget cuts. SLAM fills that void and their instructors go above and beyond to teach, encourage, and inspire. Thanks for all you do for Stina & Elijah.

    Frequently asked questions

We welcome new students with a first lesson that allows for student/teacher matching that considers learning style, musical focus, goals, personality and more.

Our teaching team offers all levels of teachers from DIY rocker-teachers to Ph.D.s.  We help you find the perfect teacher for YOUI!

For K-12, tuition is free-to-fee on a sliding scale based on entry-level tuition of $150/month for weekly 30-minute lessons with no contract.  SLAM charges adults and families with kids the same tuition month-to-month regardless of 4 or 5 lesson months.

"After a successful music career in production and coaching in Los Angeles, I was courted and hired to develop a national chain of music schools in the western USA.  As a result, I fell in love with music education and decided that I want to live in a world where every child, regardless of background or socioeconomics has the opportunity to learn from the best teachers available.  SLAM's mission may be focused on K-12, but we absolutely teach adults, pro musicians, and seniors in support of that mission."

    Steve Auerbach
    Executive Director & Co-Founder

SLAM's mission is focused on K-12, but we absolutely teach adults, professionals, and seniors in support of that mission.

Nothing gives us more pleasure than seeing our younger students learn a craft that gives them the confidence to get on a big stage at Deer Valley Amphitheater, Utah Arts Festival, Urban Arts Festival, Gallivan Center, Park City Arts Festival, Avenues Street Fair or any of the other 15 summer outdoor evens we play each summer!

We never forget our mentors, do we?  These are memories and skills for a lifetime!  At SLAM, we have some 20 instructors to choose from and pride ourselves on student-teacher matching.

    1. What is my goal?

    2. What is the difference between playing and practicing?

    3. Do I have time to practice? When?  Where?  How long?
