About
I tailor what I teach to what you want to learn. I have a lot of knowledge to share from the basics of color and exposure to more advances topics like light shadow manipulation and client posing. I was a model before I was a photographer and now, as a mother, I am also a photo client. I love photography and can't wait to spread the love!
I enjoy capturing real moments and learning about the amazing people and places around me through my camera lens.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During our first lesson together I will get an understanding of your baseline knowledge of photography. If you already know the basics of exposure and composition we can move ahead to more advanced concepts such as lighting, posing, and post procesing. I want to help you not only learn how to manually compose and shoot masterful photos but also bring out your own unique photographic voice!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am have learned most everything I know about photography by experimentation and hands on experience. I began shooting on my basic 1980's model Konica 35mm camera. My partner taught me how to set my numbers for a proper exposure and I began making images. The first few rolls of film were not terrribly well captured but I had the best time shooting them! I started learning how to use all sorts of different film cameras including a large number of instant cameras.
I was hired as an assistant photographer by Purple Moss Photography where I learned how to shoot sports photography and business portraits with a Nikon D810 and Profoto lighting. Carrie, the owner of Purple Moss, also taught me everything I know about Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, client posing, and basic business branding like logo and website design.

How did you get started teaching?
My first job as a teacher was when I was 14. I was asked to be an assistant teacher to the preschool aged ballet students at my dance school. I taught ballet for 6 years after that. Now I teach photography and gardening!
