About
I have a passion for teaching, and am especially interested in helping the very beginners!
I have taken music lessons for over 25 years! On the piano, cello, up-right bass, and guitar.
I have performed in many orchestras as a cellist, including the Millenial Choirs and Orchestra, the Cache Valley Symphony, the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra, and the University of Utah Campus Symphony.
I have taught students in elementary school orchestra classes for 2 years, and have taught several of my own private students (both in my home and in theirs).
I enjoy watching students beam and get excited when something 'clicks', or when they reach a new level of performance they previously thought impossible!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student is as follows:
~Allow a free pre-lesson meeting (either in person or over FaceTime or Zoom) with the student to get to know the student, assess interest and needs, review expectations, and determine if I would be a good fit as a teacher.
~ Arrange desired lesson schedule (what days for lessons and for how long)
~Assess student's current instrument capability and goals for taking lessons
~Make recommendation for learning material to work on in lessons
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My typical pricing system is as follows:
For cello students:
$20.00/half hour* lesson taught in my home or over Zoom/Facetime, etc.
$25.00/half hour lesson taught in student's home**.
For beginning piano, upright bass, and guitar students:
$15.00/half hour lesson taught in my home or over Zoom/Facetime, etc.
$20.00/half hour lesson taught in student's home**.
*I am willing to teach in my home or online lessons in any length of 15 minute increments. (15-minute long lessons, 30-minute long lessons, 45-minute long lessons, etc.)
**For lessons taking place in the home of the student, I require a minimum of a 30-minute lesson. Also, my rate for lessons in the homes of students is contingent upon the student living within 5 miles of my home. For students who live further than 5 miles from my home, an additional $2/mile will be added to the lesson fee.
