Art Lessons - Painting & Drawing

Whether you have never picked up a paint brush or just want to enhance the skills you already have, I can show you how to succeed in your artistic endeavors.

We will cover materials (The correct brushes for specific tasks. Different types of painting media. Canvas vs. board, thinners, thickeners, glazes, washes, etc.), Color (Light vs. dark, cool vs. warm; How to lay out and mix colors on the palette.), Composition (Background vs. foreground, horizontal vs. vertical, how to achieve a sense of distance.), Technique: (Time honored ways to take a blank canvas through the preliminary sketching, the rough blocking in of forms and gradual tightening of detail to the final product.), and Art History (It is nearly impossible to paint without becoming interested in the evolution of art and artists.)

I am a classically trained artist, I was a commercial artist for twenty years. My work has appeared in galleries in throughout Salt Lake City.

My lessons are tailored to a student's interests and skill level.
