Tyler S. says, "We are working with Mike Livingston. He has been super helpful and professional. My kid is in his first year of football and Mike has been working with him on foot work and conditioning. Mike has helped him become more aggressive and has taught him skills to use on the defensive line. My kid is starting to make plays and getting more playing time. I would definitely work with Mike again and recommend him. " Read more

Hello, my name is Scott. I have coaching baseball for 23 plus years. I focus on getting back to the basics of working with the players. I meet with the players and ask them what areas they would like to improve in and work with the player on meeting those goals. But to reach those goals those players have to not only do some work at home but be patience and understand it takes time to work on improving their skills. Like I mentioned earlier, I have coached baseball for the past 23 plus years. In the past 7 years I have been coaching 13-15 age groups as well as 16-18 in Babe Ruth in the spring. In the last 4 years I have been coaching at 1

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.

Mike has been wonderful to work with. He is patient and kind but helps motivate to be a better player. He is a great teacher and he knows his stuff! My son has been taking lessons for a few months and has already improved immensely. He loves going and he is learning new skills and techniques. We would recommend Mike to anyone looking to learn or improve their skills.
