Even if you've never picked up a camera before, I will help you get started with beginner classes, group photo walks, and individual lessons. I will teach you the fundamentals of photography, show you how to use your camera to get the best results, and host photo walks to interesting places so you can practice and take your photography to the next level.

Nothing makes me happier than showing people that photography doesn't have to be hard.

Rob’s detailed explanation with practical approach has definately helped me a lot.
I can see a huge difference in the photos I used to take earlier and the photos I am taking now.
Be it rules or composition ideas, Rob’s lectures and guidance has definately helped me a lot.

Rob has a great way of breaking down concepts and making things easy to understand, especially for novices (wannabe hobbyists) like myself.
You can tell he has a wealth of experience, however, he never talks down to you. He really is interested in helping you enjoy photography the way he does. I can’t wait until the next time I have the time to take another class.

Rob is a natural teacher who knows photography and is eager to pass that knowledge on. He is very generous with his time and makes sure every question is answered and that the students understand the material. He is also easy-going with a good sense of humor and so the classes are very enjoyable for teacher and students alike. His preparation is first class and his demonstrations are well thought out and very fun and informative.

I have attended Robs in person Beginner Photography Class having transitioned to a new mirrorless camera. His classes are a wealth of information and education. Im learning to be more familar and comfortable with my camera and its platform. In his class Ive learned and reinforced the basics of photography (exposure, composition, shooting modes, etc.). Rob presents his teachings in an easy to understand way; he explains the why behind the choices made in shooting images, he is patient and welcomes questions.

    Frequently asked questions

I often find beginning photographers are not sure where to begin or what to ask.  I like to know the student's level of experience in photography so I can better prepare materials and work at their pace.

I will ask the student to be as specific as they can with their questions, send examples and screen shots to help diagnose and clarify their questions.

I will then prepare my own questions, materials, and examples to better explain my answers.

I have worked as a professional photographer for over 5 years primarily in architectural and real estate photography.  I also teach in-person classes, create online tutorials, and have helped thousands of people all over the world.

    Online/virtual meeting starts at  $75/hr.  In-person tutoring is $100/hr.

I primarily work with beginning photographers who may have just bought their first camera or would like to learn digital photography.

I started doing free in-person training at a private school and really enjoyed the interaction with the students.  Unfortunately due to recent events, I have had to suspend the classes until further notice.

I strongly suggest reading testimonials and reviews if any.  Also, if the teacher offers a free initial consultation, that shows they have confidence in their skillset and it's a great opportunity to see if they will be a good fit for you.

It's all too easy to see amazing photographs and immediately think there is some trick or specific technique to achieve it.  Sometimes there is, but many times it's perseverance and preparedness.

At the same time, try not to overthink it.  Just simply have the desire and I will help you the best I can.
