If you love to learn and laugh at the same time, then Moe is the tutor for you. I contacted Moe thinking that I was doomed. Doomed from what you say? Learning Arabic culture and language. Moe is intelligent, patient, flexible, and the best part, a person who has a gift for teaching. As a moderately tech savvy individual, I can attest to the difficulty of communicating effectively online. Nonetheless, Moe diligently exceeds all expectations. I look forward to more lessons and laughs. Thank you, thank you. Or as I should say: Shukran.

Moe is awesome! He helped me review for a rigorous Honors Precalculus class and I ended up really understanding the material well. He always makes himself available, even at late hours. I plan on continuing to use him as a review source for my next math class (Calculus AB) because Moe is so broadly knowledgeable and really makes sure his students comprehend the material.

Moe was a great and patient tutor. He made me feel confident about my work in Calculus and Trigonometry. He is very genuine and cares a lot about his students. He was always there when I had questions. I strongly recommend Moe because he is one of a kind.

Moe was a great help with my college algebra course. He took the time to explain concepts I didn't fully comprehend, and covered basics with me after I found I needed to catch up in areas outside the course. Moe used different methods to explain concepts to me until I completely understood the material. He also showed me tricks and shortcuts to ensure that I succeeded on my exams. While math is not an area I am strong in, he made it much easier for me to learn. I felt like Moe genuinely cared about my success.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

My first step is to understand what is the student struggling with in order to tackle his/her way of thinking. I believe every student is successful. All they need is a little confidence in themselves and that comes from practice :-)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am an adjunct professor and I have been teaching for more than 7 years and tutoring for over 14 years.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My hourrly rate ranges from $25-$40.

Elementary math=$25

Middle School Math= $30

High School Math=$35

College level= $40

How did you get started teaching?

I like teaching. At the begining, I used to gather my classmates and explain concepts to them covered by our teacher. I felt that I had superior understanding of the material and classmates used always to approach me to explain things for them as I seemed to have a good ways of delivering the informaiton.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've worked with elementary up to college level students.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I am fond of all my experiences with students. In particular, last semester I had 5 students, 3 of which started with an F and ended in 1 C and 2 B's, and the other 2 started with a C and ended up with A's.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

The most important advice is the student should feel comfortable with the tutor. The tutor is there to help the student and not solve their homework. I keep poking my student with questions and I give them exercises to make sure they got the material. At the end of the day, I am not perfect. Some stuents like that and some don't but my method have proven a very high success rate so far. I never tutored anyone who failed.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

They should figure out what exatly their struggle is with. Is it intimidation? Is it lack of understanding of certain concepts? Is it lack of practice? Is it psychological? I can help in all but the student needs to be honest and share with me his struggle for me to be able to benefit him/her the most.
