As a novice to music in general and especially composition, Nebal was enthusiastic and willing to start building my knowledge from the ground up. I can't begin to explain how helpful it is to have someone with an artistic vision that inspires me (and the competence to execute that vision) supporting me and teaching me what they know. I've always wanted to accompany my shorts with my own original compositions and I'm finally on track to that. Eternally grateful!!!

The pedagogy employed by Nebal is outstanding, and the knowledge I gained even in my first lesson was invaluable. Highly recommend.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Every new student comes from a different place with a different set of skills. It's important that I meet the student where they are and assess their strengths. Every lesson includes practice assignments and listening guides to help the student broaden their musical perspective and innovate their creativity. We also do a thorough review of the basics - melody, harmony, rhythm, and sound to ensure they have a solid foundation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm very fortunate to have had performances across the globe - from Lebanon, to Finland, to places all over the United States. I've written for everything between one player to major orchestras, which means that I have the experience and expertise necessary to teach students not only how to write music, but how to get performances.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My usual fee is $65/hr. Sliding scale options are available for students eligible for free or reduced lunch, or anyone experiencing financial hardship.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

The world of composition is vast and wide. Every teacher is different and every composition student is very different. Take the time to find the right teacher for you.
