About this pro

I have been teaching art students since 2017. I am able to take a student from graphite drawing into painting with acrylic, oil, watercolor or alcohol inks. I am well versed in charcoal, graphite, ink pen and digital arts. I can help with animation, character drawings, or storyboards as well. I'm reliable, efficient, reasonable, realistic and responsive. I promise to take you to the next level with your artistic skills. Please look at the example student who drew a portrait of me as a gift in my profile. I take great care of my students and cater to your exact needs and skill level while working at the pace we set together.

I love everything about what I do. Art is a limitless world of exploration and excitement. Watching another individual explore and improve in this space is a dream come true for me. I was very lucky at a young age to be pushed by instructors to master realism, then move on to abstract and digital work. Everything in between interests and excites me.

Amanda is dedicated and very committed teacher. She is very motivated and energetic, she prepares the topic, sends materials for the class, and follows up in special situations. The communication that we reached in just a few classes is optimal.

I like everything.... Artist Amanda Parker is such a wonderful and patient teacher. One of a kind if you ask me. She creates time to correct your work even sending me vidoes of how it should have been done, assisted me in getting new materials. She's the biggest influence in my art journey so far, I wouldn't be here if not for Mrs Parker as I fondly call her..

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I analyze where the student is now and where they would like to be as an artist. It's either a hobby or full on passion for all of us. I create a specialized class for the individual I'm working with. We work at your pace. Let's get you where you want to be!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I was blessed with an instructor in high school that taught me realism and through college I learned over 20 software programs to design and create digital art. I'm fluent in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Premiere Pro after working in them for over 10 years. I currently draw in ink for my Instagram channel, mentor art students on a global level, and create art for offices in Washington DC.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My standard rate for one on one sessions is $50/hr.

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching because I want to help others succeed in an area that always loses funding in local schools. Creativity is more important than knowledge - Einstein.

What types of students have you worked with?

I teach a student in Nigeria who was already a great artist and just needed to be pushed a bit. Now he is becoming a portrait artist and getting better every day. I have also taught abstract painters in the past and currently work in art and design from my home studio daily.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Traveling, hiking and comedy are my other hobbies that I'm infinitely fond of.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would say find the right teacher for you who can move you to the next level quickly. Some art teachers I had were so spacey that it took far too long to get from point A to point B. There is no reason that you can't excel quickly if you practice the techniques taught by your instructor.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Where am I now and where do I want to be with art?
