About
Painting has been my passion for over twenty years and have sold my work worldwide for the last ten years. Teaching others offer the years had added another layer of joy to my creative journey. I love to see other discover their own joy in painting and that you really can learn the skill necessasary to create a painting. That coupled with practice grows your artistic abilities and confidence! My teaching involves going over the bacis of color, value, line, and composition and helping my students begin with a simple shape such as a pear and start by setting up their palett and begin to get paint on canvas! It is a very fun process!
I love all things creative and spending time with students who long to create and depend their abilities to paint is very rewarding.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first step is to get more information as to a student's experience in art. Then we get started with the basics of painting which includes the color wheel, temperature, value, and line.
Next, we talk about the tools of being an artist and get familiar with using a brush and some paint.
We usually work on a simple shape such as an apple or pear and work to build form. Painting is a learned skill and so much fun! I love sharing my love for painting with others and help take the fear out of the process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My degree in college was Psychology but I was always enamored with all things creative. I began taking painting classes when my boys started school and haven't stopped since! I have studied with local teachers as well as some in the Raleigh area and overseas. I love learning about my craft and continue to grow and practice. I paint daily. It is a joy!
