I studied in NYC at School of Visual Art, Cooper Union, The Drawing Center and the Defense Information School and Maryland Institute College of Art in Maryland. I am aiming to work my way out of corporate America and back to my true love of all things visual art.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to begin by inquiring of the students' inspirations, their comfort level in exploration and risk taking and by delvining into the medium of their choosing or by initially working in  various mediums until the one they find most comfortable stands out.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

My background and interests in the visual arts come from a family of fine artists, illustrators and architects. I decided to take visual arts seriously after prompting from loved ones and educators while in middle school. I matriculated in variuos fully accreditied institutions spaning from NYC, the US Army and Baltimore. I currently work as an Art Director and run a graphic design and fine arts firm based in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Yes, my rates are hourly and also based on the logistics of travel, materials and any publications and equipment  required for the lessons.

How did you get started teaching?

During my tenure in the US Army, the ability to train, communicate and share professional expertise was key to effective leadership and management.

What types of students have you worked with?

A wide range. I have worked with analytical thinkers who had a hard time grasping the value and beauty of art and design, physical children and those young at heart. If the desire to learn is present, class can begin!

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Coming home from long work days and seeing my three children studiously drawing, painting and exploring their creative faculties. I strive to keep that spark alive in them while they are young, it will serve them greatly as they grow and select a professional career.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Be open to explore and to re-learn how to be a child again. To get rid of their fears and take risks. To not worry of the outcome and allow their inner child and imagination to guide their expressions.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Find their "why". What draws them to art? Study the greats and find the ones that influences them. Do you have the time and resources to take on art? What are your motivations and goal(s) for entering into the world of art?
