About
Rita Biggs has studied with some of the Master teachers of all time. She was certified in the sls (speech level singing) method under Seth Riggs, teacher of Michael Jackson, Celine Deon, Barbara Streisand, etc. She is currently accredited by IVTOM (International Voice Teachers of Mix), an organization of highly trained professionals and experts keeping up with the latest vocal science, trends, and techniques, striving to teach natural, healthy vocal production. Rita has performed professionally (singing and playing keyboard) and has worked with country artists, CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) and church worship groups, pop and musical theatre students, etc. Her focus is helping students increase their confidence, their range, and their vocal strength, and to sing in a way which sounds natural to their particular style of music.
She loves helping students feel confident about their singing and feel they are able to tackle songs and sound good! She enjoys helping students improve!!!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I try to make sure the student is comfortable. I get to know what they want from their lessons. I find out their goals (sing professionally in a certain style, sing for fun, develop a stronger voice, sing higher notes, etc. Then we work to make it happen!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's degree (MaEd) in Education. I have studied with Seth Riggs and completed a rigorous certification program as an sls (speech level singing) instructor. I have also been accredited through IVTOM (International Voice Teachers of Mix) since 2015 and continue training through IVTOM with nationally known experts incorporating vocal science based techniques.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $100 per hour, but offer a discount for a prepayment for four lessons. ($75 each)
How did you get started teaching?
I sang with my family for years and then sang professionally. I wanted to strengthen my own voice and eliminate strain, so I began studying with Seth Riggs, "Voice Teacher of the Stars," in Hollywood. That began a vigorous study of voice and eventual certification as a sls instructor, and now as an IVTOM instructor. I love singing, performing, and studying about the singing voice and staying current on new techniques that help people improve their singing and enjoy using their voice!
What types of students have you worked with?
Youth, men and women in a variety of settings, from beginners to professionals:
professional country singers; professional folk/bluegrass singers; singers of pop, CCM (Contemporary Christian Music), and praise and worship; church and community choir members; professional and amatuer musical theatre performers; etc.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I loved recently attending the IVTOM conference in Denver and picking up so many new ideas from celebrity voice teachers, current voice authors, voice scientists, otolaryngologists, etc.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Get someone who knows how to give you a strong sound that suits your style of music. For example , if someone is giving you soft choral exercises you won't end up singing strong solo country or pop pieces like you hear on the radio
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is my goal?
What do I want to accomplish?
Who is a well known performer I would like to sound like?
Where would I like to sing? What kind of songs?
