Hi! My name is Kelly Haneklau, and I am the owner of Minor Miracles. People and art are my passions in life. I enjoy seeing people reach their true potential through art. Creating art and helping others create art is so much more than the final product. Art is a reflection of our inner selves and art itself creates something in us!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, we assess where you are experience-wise by working individually with each student. Age and experience do not matter. Whether you are looking to hone your skills, pick up a new hobby or become your inner Leonardo da Vinci...we can help you acheive your personal goals!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Kelly Haneklau, our lead instructor has always been interested in and studied art from an early age. She received her Bachelor of Science in Fine Art in 1992. Kelly taught art for Grace Children's Learning Center in Manassas, VA, has owned and operated a day care and been a lead teacher and teacher coordinator for MOPs (Mother's of Preschoolers). She continues to educate herself through various classes from "Early Learning Standards" to "Preschool AD/HD and Autism" to "Proper Discipline and Play". She plans on getting her masters in the near future.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$40/hour private lessons
$35/hour semi-private
$30/hour small group (3-5 students)
$25/hour large group (6-8 students)
$15/hour studio time (instructor present, but no lesson)
$15 per 45 minutes- toddler class (4 week minimum)
How did you get started teaching?
Several people had been asking Kelly for a while to teach art, when an opportunity arose at Grace Children's Learning Center. She always enjoyed working with children, and this began paving the way to private lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
Preschool, grade school, high school and adults of varying levels of art ability.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Minor Miracles recently provided free face-painting at the Prince William Half Marathon at Jiffy Lube Live Amphitheatre in Bristow, VA for the second year in a row. We also really enjoy working with the children of St. Thomas Aquinas Regional School in Woodbridge, VA at their fall festival.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is best to meet with the teacher you are considering and see if he/she is the right fit for you. We provide a free 15 minute meet and greet if you are interested in touring the studio and meeting with Kelly.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your main reason for wanting to take art lessons? Be honest with yourself. What would you like to improve or learn? What do you expect out of the lessons? What are your concerns about art? What do you love about art? Do you have a favorite medium? What is your committment level? What is your budget if any?
