Hola, bienvenido al español de México!
I am Imelda. I was born and raised in México and I really love to teach my language and share my culture.
My teaching focuses on my student's strengths and reasons for learning. I ensure that students are taught from a personalized curriculum that brings them closer to their goals while emphasizing the Spanish of Mexico and Latinos Culture (idiomatic expressions, food, jokes, dance, etc.). I teach Spanish of Spain as well.
I have a Master Degree in Latinoamerican Studies and I am a Certified Spanish Teacher from the oldest University of América Latina: Universidad Autónoma de México. I am sure I am the right person to teach you how to speak fluent Spanish, how to write, and how to get the best notes on school work and Spanish tests.
It doesn´t matter if you already Speak Spanish because I can help you to improve your pronunciación or working in grammar problematic aspects as SER/ESTAR , PRETERITO/IMPERFECTO tenses, SUBJUNTIVO, PREPOSICIONES, etc. But if you only want to practice and have a conversation, or learn a little bit more on the way, I will give you a better price. I am passionate about Literature, History, Philosophy and Politics; I promise we will have a great talking about this big topics or just have a relaxing informal chatting.
I have been teaching Spanish for more than 20 years in Mexico City, Los Cabos, La Paz and Canada. I have been teaching by zoom since covid pandemic. Over the last 12 years I have been teaching to retired people from Canada and United States. Most of them spend winter in Cabo but some of them are in their countries the whole year and we have zoom lessons.
I believe I can engage any curious or dedicated student with this eclectic mix of perspectives and experience.
