Captain Jacks
About
I made it to the D-1 college level not by standing out as an individual, but by being on winning teams. A good catcher can affect the success of your team more than any other position. Pitchers only can throw once a week and even your best hitters need a good lineup around them. Good catchers can help your whole pitching staff and fielders. I'll help you or your player develop skills but more than that I will turn them into the leader they need to be to give their team the competitive advantage over every team.
I played college baseball for Old Dominion University for one year before retiring from baseball to focus on my degree. I missed baseball and continued to play in summer leagues and coach kids teams and private lessons in Richmond until 2015 when I moved to Virginia Beach full time.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Early on we'll establish goals and a path to reach them. Early lessons will work on establishing skills and developing tools. As lessons continue the trainee will follow a program designed to hone techniques and set themselves apart from the field. The catchers I work with will develop faster hands, a stronger arm, quicker feet, better blocking, better framing, and learn the intangibles that will help your team WIN!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I played college baseball at Old Dominion University under Jerry Meyers from 2009-2010 after achieving All-Region honors at Mills E. Godwin High School in Richmond, VA. I have coached teams and private lessons.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pay what you can. I know times are tough, but you only get back what you put in.
How did you get started teaching?
Catchers see the whole field so we make the best coaches.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly younger kids between 10-15.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If youre looking to develop seriously as a catcher you need to understand that you cannot step into a situation unprepared. So think about where you'll be in the days, weeks, or months following your lessons and prep specifically for those scenarios.
