About
My flute studio GIFT is a highly active flute studio in Kettering, OH. I offer private lessons, ensemble opportunities, and studio classes. Students have the opportunity to participate in the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs festivals, to perform through out the community, and for each other. For more information, please visit my website at www.giftflutestudio.com.
I enjoy getting to know the students and helping them reach their individual goals. Whether it is having the confidence to play in their church orchestra, school band, or community group or helping them prepare an audition piece for competition, it is fun to see the progress and growth of my students. I am always amazed just where music will take them in their lives!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
At the first lesson, I evaluate what the student already knows and what his/her goals are. From there, I concentrate on the fundamentals of flute playing and how they apply to helping the student achieve their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Music Education, a MM in Music Performance (flute), and over 25 years of experience teaching music.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $40 for an hour lesson. Lessons occur weekly at my home. I do allow 30 minute lessons ($20) for beginners for the first three months of study. After that time, students should know if they are ready to commit to the hourly lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
While working on my Bachelor's degree in music education, I started teaching private flute lessons and group recorder lessons for beginners.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginner students and advanced students elementary through college, as well as adults.
