About

Reach Your Full Potential

Our programs feature a variety of intense training options to help each athlete develop their full potential. From basic skill and performance athletics training to a full-time competitive basketball experience, each of our programs can meet the athlete’s needs for complete and total athletic achievement. These programs have proven to be the most successful approach at helping athletes reach their goals.

Character

As we look at the state of many of our collegiate and professional athletes, what we often see is a lack of sound character. It is our focus to build strong Christian character through a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as our athletes’ moral compass. Our prayer is that the athletes in our ministry grow in their relationship with God through: Prayer, an ever-growing knowledge of God’s Word, solid Christian Fellowship, and consistent Accountability. We believe that this formula is the key in becoming a mature Christian Athlete who makes sound life decisions based on their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Intensity

Passion and Intensity drive our training program. Some have left our program because the pace is too fast and the workouts are too difficult. We don’t apologize at all. It is this approach that has prepared our collegiate athletes for the next level and brought many of those up to reach the professional level.

Family

The feeling of this ministry is family. We welcome you from the start and pray that you feel as though you have met a relative you never knew. The hope is that you will stay with us long-term and we can watch your child grow as they reach their goals and then look back at where they started all those years ago. What a great feeling to see them mature and reach all their goals! Come join the TPLS family!

Founder: Mike Davis

Mike Davis has mentored, coached, trained, and counseled both professional athletes and amateur athletes in a variety of settings since 1991. He is currently an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and formerly a Registered Dietitian. He played basketball for Virginia Tech 1991-94 and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1995 with a B.S. in Nutrition for Human Performance and a B.S. in Exercise Science.

After Graduation, Mike started his own company (Three Point Line Productions) where he offered personal athletic training, basketball training, nutrition counseling, and web design services while working full-time as a public health nutritionist. It was in spring of 1998 that he found Christ gripping his heart and leading him to enter into ministry. Soon thereafter, Mike left his full-time job to work in youth ministry.

From 1998-2007 Mike served as the Director of Basketball for the U-TURN Sports Performance Academy, where he built a very successful basketball program. One of the the first of its kind, the program offered professional skill training, performance athletic training, and competitive team play. Not long after its inception, the AAU program became one of the premiere programs in the state of Virginia. In just over six years, the program grew from 3 teams to 17 teams serving both boys and girls and fostered National Qualifiers every year. In the 9 years Mike served there, he saw over 50 athletes graduate from the training program and go on to play college basketball at the Division I, II, and III levels.

During the 2006-07 basketball season, Mike served as the Head Coach and Player Development Director for the American Basketball Association Team the Richmond Ballerz.

It was in the spring of 2007 that Mike founded Three Point Line Sports and TPLS Christian Ministries. This was to sharpen his focus purely on basketball specific training and minister to those athletes who are passionate about basketball. After a brief stint in 2009 as the Lead Assistant Coach for the Longwood University Women’s Basketball Program, Mike returned to the focus of ministry and training resurrecting TPLS and transforming it back into the most successful program around. To date, over 100 athletes have been graduated on to play college basketball at the Division I, II, and III levels. Regarded as a superior outside shooter, and an excellent ballhandler and passer, Mike has used his self-taught concepts to build high performance guards and post-players.
