About
Hey there! I'm Melissa, and photography has been a part of my story for years now — as a professional photographer, and as a photography teacher at two local private high schools.
Teaching photography surprised me. Watching a student go from "I have no idea what I'm doing" to "wait, I actually love this" never gets old. Patience is easy when the rewards are that good.
When I'm not in the classroom, you'll find me behind the camera specializing in branding and senior sessions — check out my work at www.melissapriorphotography.com or come say hi on Instagram @melissapriorphotography.
Cameras, classrooms, whatever — it's really all about the people for me. That's what gets me out of bed in the mornings. 📸

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I assess what they want to learn and how much they already know. From there, we come up with plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I teach digital photography at two local private high schools. I've also taught clinics and classes for middle school students all the way through students who are in their 70s. You're never too old or too young to learn photography!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30-40 per hour, depending on topics to be covered and level of knowlege of the student. The length and frequency of the lesson is up to the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I started working at a local private high school teaching Yearbook, then Digital Photography.
What types of students have you worked with?
From middle school through retired age.
