Start With Mike

I started out playing guitar when I was 12 yrs old from my music teacher in middle school’s basic guitar class.

I then took lessons for two years at a guitar shop in Chicago Ridge Illinois called “Players Guitars”

When i was in high school i joined my towns talent show and introduced my original music to the judges one being my old music teacher in middle school and won 3 times in a row. I also played in my first rock band Sophmore year playing at teen venues on the south side of Chicago and played a Battle of the Bands at Congress Theater in Chicago.

In high school I was always playing at Wednesday open mics at The Ashbary Coffee House in Willow Springs and started fund raisers with my music for kids with cancer and to keep the Ashbary up and running.

I started an original band called “MidiJoyful” and we played all the venues in Chicago. If you look up MidiJoyful on Youtube there is plenty of videos with my original music. We would play about 50 shows a year playing at all the bars and music venues in the City of Chicago

I played on several college radio stations. St. Xavier Community College and also College of Colombia. I also had an interview at College of Colombia for winning an open mic contest in The City of Chicago.

I recorded my first album Singing In The Shower which is on band amp with DZ Records. DZ records was a community of volunteers raising money with shows in a basement for a festival we held every year in the owners backyard. The owner Ben Arguellis has his masters in microphone sound and I was always a top pick for him to play show fundraisers at high schools around Chicago.

I grew up with musicians as my dad also plays bass for a 80’s hair metal cover band called The Lounge Puppets and they are a big deal in Chicago playing all the town festivals on the North and South side of Chicago.

Today I am playing at open mics in Washington and serving my country in the Navy. I love teaching people my passion and enjoy seeing their progression. My style is folk and blues and I know all the basics to get you started rocking.

My style of teaching is once a week we get together and I teach you a few things and I will teach you to read tablature. I will teach you scales, chords, picking technique, and how to tune your guitar. If you want to learn a song I will learn it and teach you step by step. Ill teach you all about the guitar and how to start rocking!
