Hard Work Beats Talent
About
I’ve been involved with all aspects of youth basketball over the past 12 years. I started with officiating recreational leagues for the City of Lakewood and University Place. I was also a gym supervisor for Metro Parks Tacoma. Which got me interested in coaching and I took off from there. I now run my own non profit called Hard Work Beats Talent out of the eastside of Tacoma, and I’m USA youth basketball development certified. I’m a firm believer in effort while pushing for your goals no matter what they are. Basketball is a tool that can teach you a lot about perseverance in life. By combing the two in detail during sessions kids will understand that goals are earned and not given. I enjoy being in the gym with kids who have love for the game and aren’t afraid to step outside of their comfort zones. I enjoy correlating basketball to life outside of the sport. I love showing kids how to deal with adversity and inspiring them to never quit and always give %100 in whatever they do.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Gauging their skill set and passion for the game. I put them through a series of simple drills depending on age and ability. Also getting to know what their hobbies are outside of basketball.
