About

Everyone has the potential to take really amazing photos - it's all about learning the basics, and understand how you see.

I've been a photographer for over 5 years, and I majored in photography at Tacoma's School Of The Arts. I currently work as a contributing writer and photographer for Lucid Magazine. I primarily shoot portrait, editorial and music photography, though I have experience shooting engagements, events and street photography.

I've tutored others in photography through my school, and would love to teach new people again. You some of my work on my site here: kylerluffyphoto.com

I've loved taking pictures since I was young, and I loved going to concerts even more. In high school, majoring in photography helped me hone in on what I liked so much about taking photos and creating an image. When I realized there was both a market and a need for music photographers - I was thrilled. Combining music with my art gave me a whole new perspective on photography.

I love teaching others not only because they're discovering something they really love, but because you can never expect what they're going to create. Seeing the photos progression of someone's growth and thinking in photos as they learn is always amazing!

Jake L.

He was really patient and gave really great feedback on my images. He took time to learn about my own equipment to help me learn with what I had, and the portraits I was taking improved a lot.

Frequently asked questions

I like to start by familiarizing students with their own cameras, before introducing them to the basics of photography: shooting modes, aperture, ISO, shutter speed etc. I also teach principles and elements of art such as line, balance, movement, value, shape, and space.

I try to get students to branch out of their comfort zones when shooting and have them try out a variety of genres, including portraits, street photography, architecture, and more.

From there, I also teach basic Lightroom editing skills and how to critique their own photos.

If a student is more advanced, I gauge their experience and ask for some sample work to see where their skills are at. From there, I discuss exactly what they're looking to learn (i.e. lighting, editing, posing, etc.) and tailor lessons based on their needs.

I've worked as a photographer for over five years and majored in photography at Tacoma's School of the Arts.

I currently work as a contributing photographer and writer with Lucid Magazine and have been published.

I've worked with a variety of people in the past, mostly teens and young adults looking to improve their photo skills, either for a creative purpose or just to capture their favorite moments better!
