I enjoy teaching and sharing knowledge and experience. I have been a photographer for 45 years, 19 of them professionally. I am an expert with Lightroom and know my way around Photoshop. I am an expert in studio lighting and can show you how to use it outdoors as well, capturing beautiful "golden hour" portraits: backlit by the sun with perfectly balanced fill flash for the front. Why not use a reflector? They make people squint! I shoot 20 weddings a year in addition to headshots, corporate events, celebrations, real estate, pets, families, and newborns.

I started out doing travel photography back in the Kodachrome days. I shot mostly landscapes, especially quaint old villages with winding streets. I always ran out of film and was forced to choose between film and food. Film always won out and I’d return with thousands of slides but a few pounds lighter! Nobody likes to travel with me as I insist on returning to places to see how they look in different light. Sometimes the return visit is disappointing but sometimes it exceeds expectations. One time I was staying south of Amsterdam and it had been raining for almost 2 weeks but I had been venturing out and saw a windmill next to a canal and made a mental note to come back when the weather improved. The next morning, I was awakened by sunshine streaming in my window and I knew just what I had to do. I threw on some clothes, grabbed my camera, and ran a mile to the windmill. Every minute was precious because the sun might get too high in the sky and be out of the frame. I knew how the windmill would look next to the curve of the canal and where the sun would be but I didn’t know there would be mist and fishermen with bicycles and a swan right in the middle. https://www.solomonimages.com/landscapes/e2cf1a853
