What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Usually I start with shooting. Working on form shooting, then slowly moving back to the 3 point line. Then we work on 1 dribble pull ups. Then we go into finishing. Starting with 2 step layups starting at the block, then go into 2 step layups starting at the elbow working on footwork. Then we go into 2 dribble layups. After that we go into euro steps. Then we go into ball handling which includes stationary at first, then going into footwork. Then depending on the days we work on different types of crossovers and moves to get yourself open.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been too a Washington Huskies coaches training with Mike Neighbors this last January. I have also talked with and watched film with June Daughtry the Washington State Woman's basketball coach

How did you get started teaching?

I have always loved playing basketball since I was a little kid. I would play basketball until it got dark out every day during the summer and when I would get home from school. Then I started getting a love for understanding the game on a student level and I started coaching my little sister and fell in love with teaching the game of basketball

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with every age from 3rd grade-high school. I have worked with high school stars to beginners.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would tell the student too find the coach that will push them past there limitations. Too find someone that believes in them so much that they can be the best player. Is friendly with them but at the same time is not afraid to get hard on them and tell them the truth.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
