I spent two semesters teaching English at the Jiangxi University of Technology in Nanchang, China. I very much enjoyed the experience, and was told often that I was a special teacher, that challenged and helped my students really achieve a higher level of English speaking capability.
I still tutor several foreign students via the internet every week helping them in their careers as they need to be able to use high level English in their work.
I really love languages, and in addition to my native language English, I speak to various degrees French, Spanish and Chinese. Seeing my students continually improve their English gives me a great deal of satisfaction.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I often use articles from newpapers or websites on subjects that my students are interested in as a basis for expanding their English capability. I let my students fully express themselves, without interruption. After they are done, I correct any mistakes, and then ask them questions. Answering questions in English is often challenging, but it is a great way to get my students use their brains in English, and is a very powerful learning tool.
