About
JBI is unique firearms instruction in that we focus solely on the student. Our private instruction is more akin to a consultation with live fire on the range, than a class. Training courses are often hundreds of dollars with Instructor attention split over a dozen or so people. Wouldn't it be nice to spend the same amount and have the focus be on your learning and your advancement? That is what we offer at JBI. Get ahold of us now to learn more about how we can help.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student we ask them to fill out our intake form. The form let's us know a shooters current experience level, and where they might like or need help. Then we schedule a time that meets the needs of the student as we understand schedules are often busy.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an Instructor certified through the Department of Homeland Security. I am also a certified NRA handgun instrutor as well as a certified Glock Armorer. I have a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice. I am uniquely positioned to teach handgun proficiency and the intricacies of the use of force.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
In general the price per 2 hour consultation and instruction is $100 for 2 hours for a single session the price is negotiable for longer term instruction periods or recurring lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I developed a love of handgun shooting as a result of my employment in Law Enforcement. I thought if I was going to carry a handgun for a living I'd better know how to use it. In my pursuit of getting better myself I discovered a deep desire and satisfaction in seeing others excel with a handgun as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students in the law enforcement field, competetive shooters, and people who just want a fun hobby and something to enjoy.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I competed in the 2020 IDPA WA State Championship and was the division champion in the compact carry pistol division. I have always had an affiinty for smaller concealable guns so competing in this event and finishing well was a great experience.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is my sincere belief that any instructor who teaches handgun techniques ought to be able to do what he or she asks of their students. If you find an instructor who is unwilling to shoot in front of you, that is not a good sing. My training philosophy is explain, demonstrate, imitate. I explain why the particular aspect of handgun shooting is done, show you how to do it, then ask that you imitate what I have shown.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I am of the idea that there are no questions that are wrong or bad. No question is out of bounds, ask me what you'd like.
