Weapons Proficiency Training
About
Ensuring that people who decide to purchase firearms are fully educated in safety, maintenance and responsible gun ownership is a must. We're blessed with the right to defend ourselves, but with that comes responsibility. My goal is to help educate people in just that.
As a veteran shooter with over 35 years' experience along with NRA training, I'm able to communicate effectively and train fully. I look at it as more like a coaching opportunity. Basics first, then build upon each towards a strong, knowledgeable comfort level.
We'll cover all aspects of gun ownership, from the basics of which end goes boom and all related safety issues through to maintenance, safe storage and tactics. This is always enjoyable!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We'll meet at a range and sit down together for an hour going over firearms safety in the home, in public and at the range. Once I believe that the student understands fully just how important safety is, the next step is teaching about the weapon itself.
It's critical for a new shooter to learn that any firearm is essentially a tool, but a tool with incredible destructive power. I won't take a person onto the range unless and until I'm certain that their safety and the safety of those around them is understood and taken to heart.
After this, it's range time. Proper aiming, target acquisition, stance and hand placement come next. Working to make the new shooter comfortable with the firearm while maintaining a safety mindset comes along with this.
Finally, once a person has a demonstrated understanding and basic proficience in the information and training from both the classroom and the range, we can begin with tactics.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm an Army veteran with over 35 years' experience as a shooter. I've trained dozens of individuals through the years, but with this past few years being even more busy. It began as a coaching/training time spent with friends and acquaintances, but the need for this has obviously grown with the uncertainty of the times. As a result of this, I've taken additional NRA training to couple with my experience in order that any person I coach and train will be able to fully understand the responsibility and privilege they've been given by being a citizen of the U.S. who has chosen to be a firearm owner.
