About
Whether you're a budding Picasso or haven't touched a paint brush since the 6th grade, BrushCapades Seattle can help you get a new perspective on painting, or hone the skills you already have. Our events are designed to help you have fun and walk away with your very own masterpiece! Our celebrity artist Anjl Rodee is an award winning illustrator and certified Grumbacher Master artist.
We love working with people who think that being creative is only for ‘some’ people. Art is for everyone! No one will be grading your progress. We just have fun creating, and finding your individual art style.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to have an initial visit, either in-person or phone, to find out exactly what the student is hoping to gain from their lessons. Some are looking to hone skills they already have, and some are just looking for a fun and relaxing hobby. I like to individualize lessons for each person, so they are getting exactly what they need from the experience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a masters in illustration from Mt. Mary College in Milwaukee, WI. I've worked in advertising, book and magazine illustration, the paper plate industry and for the last 3 years I've owned a wine and paint party business.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50 an hour per student for one hour private lessons. I also offer Skype lessons for $35. These may have more than one student in attendance.
How did you get started teaching?
I've taught at a collegiate level, but as an improv comic, I find that teaching in a less formal environment is more enjoyable for me. I've been putting the fun in teaching for almost 20 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
All kinds! Adults, kids, corporate types, retired types, social groups and serious artists alike.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We hosted a corporate team building event. Each team member received a pre-sketched square canvas, which they painted in whatever style they chose. After completion, they worked together to fit the square canvases into one large mosaic piece. It's hanging in the lobby of their business.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that is willing to cater to your individual needs and desires, artistically. Skip color theory, if you want! Who needs perspective skills, when you're painting kittens!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about two things: what you are looking to achieve, and how you want art to make you feel. It matters!
