GUITAR LESSONS (Ukulele & Bass Too π€ππ€) With Jacob Hessburg (Remote Only)
About
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to view this! I have been playing guitar for most of my life and have been teaching music - from beginner, to very advanced levels - for over 20 years now. I love showing people how easy it is to learn to play, I'm very patient and I like to use each student's personal musical interests and preferences to teach. I don't have a set step-by-step approach; I structure each lesson specifically to each separate student, taking into account their unique musical goals, and how they like to learn. I want you to enjoy learning and playing guitar. I want you to feel that you're improving, not just that you're taking lessons. I'm happy to provide current student references upon request.
Teaching music is the greatest job in the world, it's wonderful to help people learn a skill that relieves stress and brings joy into their lives. Playing guitar is easy! You can simply become as good as you want to be.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Once we establish a day and time that will accommodate the student's schedule, I simply try to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I really believe that learning and playing guitar should be fun, that it's not as difficult as a lot of people think, and that it is a skill that can be used for the rest of one's life. Playing the guitar really does add a lot of joy, and remove a ton of stress from day-to-day living.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have many many years of professional and private music lessons from some of the most amazing players. When I lived in Southern California I studied under a very noteworthy guitar professional, he tours the world performing with many big-name acts, and performs on television shows regularly. I also worked as his guitar-tech while living in CA.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The 1st 30 minutes are free -
My rates are:
$40 for 30 minute lessons.
$55 for 45 minutes.
$70/hour
If any student ever found the 1st lesson to be unsatisfactory for any reason, they would not be charged, even after the 1st free 30 minutes -This has yet to happen, but I would only feel comfortable taking your money if you were happy with your session.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching guitar back in my early 20's after working during the daytime at Guitar Center in Pasadena, CA - I've never stopped.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with people from all walks of life, very young, very old, men, women, and everything in-between. I don't see skin color or sexual orientation - If you're interested in trying the guitar out, I'll happily show you how simple it is to start playing, you'll be strumming songs in your first session.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My most recent band recorded a professional album at the home of the Guns n Roses drummer in LA, it was a blast and we were very happy with the quality of the resulting record.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise the customer to contact me and ask any questions they might have, and to check into a few references that I would provide - if after the first session they were unsatisfied, or felt that it wasn't what they were looking for - no charge of course.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Anything that comes to mind regarding guitar, guitar lessons, how to find the right guitar, or even just questions about not knowing where to start -there are no bad questions. I just want the customer to feel comfortable and peaceful during our sessions; I also want them to feel that they're growing musically, not just taking lessons without really advancing their playing.
