Kyle Faircloth Guitar Lessons
About
I let the student tell me what they'd like to learn. If someone says, "I want to learn guitar," I will ask them what they want to play once they learn the basics (if they are beginners), and tailor the subsequent lessons to that end. I believe, as every person is an individual, so should their guitar instruction be individualized. If two students both want to learn an E chord, I will teach them the standard way of playing it, but if I sense one or the other would learn better in a different way, or within a specific style of music, I do my best to adapt to their unique way of learning to play.
I love playing guitar and I am good at it, so it is a great pleasure to be able to share that with my students and see the glint in their eye when they begin to pick it up. The moment when something 'clicks' and you suddenly find yourself able to play that lick, or that chord, or that solo, is such a good feeling. I derive great pride out of seeing things 'clicking' into place for my students, and the sense of accomplishment and joy that brings. It brings us back to what playing guitar is all about: having fun and connecting through music.

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a guitar player/multi-instrumentalist for 15+ years and have performed in bands of many differing styles (rock, metal, blues, electronic, folk.) I have a working knowledge of theory, good technique and a vast mental library of chords.
How did you get started teaching?
I've been playing for a while, and friends would sometimes ask me to show them a thing or two. I've been described as very patient, and willing to work with someone until they 'get it.' So, over time, I decided to offer my services to the public!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would advise to just think about what you'd like to get out of your instrument via the lessons. Do you want to learn specific techniques (palm-muting, tapping, alternate-picking, chickin' pickin' etc?) Do you want to get into effects and all the various sounds the instrument can make? Do you want to shred like Van Halen? Do you want to learn music theory through the guitar? Do you want to just learn some chords to play around the campfire? These considerations go a long way into getting the most out of your lessons with me!
