The Fauve Fox

I am an independent artist, one of three teaching artists in an independently run woman owned art studio. The larger group studio, Moonrise Studios, is a public studio hosting events, lessons and monthly art openings in Seattle's charming Greenwood neighborhood.

Moonrise focuses especially on featuring emerging female aritsts. Despite this focus we are open to the larger community, spouses, kids and even dogs are welcome in our large public space.

I also can offer smaller one on one classes in my private Backyard studio, also in Greenwood.

Both studios are largely low cost and sliding scale, and sometimes donation based at our larger studio , and we strive to make art affordable for everyone.

We also seek to exemplify and amplify the creative spririt, especially that of the female aspect of the spirit of Creation, the Creatrix, the Self Actualized Maven and the archetype of the Mother Goddess.

We seek to bring spiritual awareness to everything we do, taking deep breaths and/or burning sage and excersizing mindfulness before every class. Both studios are peppered with crystals and candles, and comfy places to relax and reset.

Aho, Aya!

As life long mixed media artist, my first passion is for art itself. I also love teaching, and have a strong background in mentoring and teaching art. I have mentored kids ages 2 to 21, and my first private student from 11 year old cartoonist to prestigous art school student.

I love working with budding artists young and old. I love helping them work through their frustration to get on their "aha!" Moment , and eventually their masterpeice.

I have a Master's in Art Education from the University of New Mexico and 20 years experience as a showing and selling artist.

Classes in drawing, painting , portraiture, paper mache, charchoal drawing, acrylic or oil painting, and my favorite, mixed media painting are available.
