At Raw Talent, we have discovered a method that does just that. Sign up and make a difference, no matter what age group you're in. I am new to individual sports training, but I have coached youth sports, ages 5-18, as a Head Coach in both baseball and football, for over 30 years. I am also the son of a long-time youth football coach. My story begins in Southern California, where I was a two-sport All-Star in both baseball and football from ages 7 to 19. During my high school years, I acquired 7 varsity letters, 4 in baseball, and 3 in football. During the summer months of high school, starting at age 15, I began pitching in the OCABA, the Orange County Amateur Baseball Assoc. A baseball league for mostly college and minor league players still hoping to play in the major leagues. I was, by several years, the youngest player to ever play in that league. Upon graduation, I left for Massachusetts, and the Cape Cod League, which is a similar league to the OCABA league in California, but with even better players. I also traveled briefly to Mexico, and played in a Semi-Pro League there as well. Shortly before I was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 1981 Amateur draft I learned I was becoming a father, and it was decided that instead of traveling the country as a minor league baseball player, I would focus on being a husband and father. So my playing career ended, but I coached my first team, as a 19 year old, which began a life-time love of coaching. Recently I completed 51 out of 52 seasons, of being involved in baseball, as either a player, coach, umpire, or administrator. My love for the game transfers to my training of the youth in the communities in which I live. I don't do this for the money, I do this for the love of the games.
