Hi! I'm Char Johnson, and I'm a dynamic and highly qualified fitness instructor, yoga specialist, movement specialist, corrective exercise specialist and personal trainer based out of Vancouver, Washington. I'm certified and experienced in teaching: yoga (Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Yin and Ashtanga), Pilates, barre and ballet hybrids, suspension training (TRX), power and olympic weight lifting modalities, indoor cycling, strength and HIIT based formats, functional mobility, and flexibility training. I hold many varied certifications including: NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist, Yoga Fit, I.S.S.A. Vinyasa Flow Specialist, NCCA Certified Yoga Instructor, TRX, ZUU, Schwinn MPower indoor cycling, and FMS (Functional Movement Systems). What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Depending on the service utilized, a movement screen and posture check can be applied with a questionnaire relating to what the student's goals, needs, and wants are. Then, classes and workouts are carefully designed to fit the individual.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold many certifications and qualifications through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine), YogaFit International, I.S.S.A., NCCA, NCCPT, TRX, ZUU, Schwinn, and FMS (Functional Movement Systems). I'm also a former ballet professional with many years of performance, movement training, and a passion for fitness always in the forefront. I also specialize in: post rehabilitation, corrective exercise, movement and mobility training, yoga and yoga therapy, wellness and overall fitness enhancement.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private sessions in person are 62.00 per hour, private sessions via remote means (FaceTime, Zoom, etc.) are 45.00 per session. Small group or partner training is offered at 42.00 per session, and online group or in person group exercise classes are 25.00 per session. I do offer package pricing, just inquire:)
How did you get started teaching?
After retiring from a career in ballet, I focused on my children, and then went back to school and trained extensively in: fitness applications, movement specialties, corrective exercise, functional movement, barre, Pilates and yoga.
What types of students have you worked with?
Everyone and everybody. I work with and assist all ages including seniors, adults, teens, those seeking post rehabilitation and corrective exercise, those seeking mobility and movement training, pre and post natal mothers (diastis recti recovery and pelvic floor recovery), and individuals looking to enhance and improve their overall and general fitness. Additionally, I enjoy working with folks to improve strength and performance.
