Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our first session is spent not only learning exactly where my student wants to go but also where I've come from in my craft and how we'll work together on this journey.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have attended 3 years of formal music school, worked as engineer and performer in recording sessions as well as run my own home-based recording studio.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I work within the budgets of my students to determine what's affordable but also fair for me.
How did you get started teaching?
I taught beginning piano students while in music school and have since taught bass guitar and studio process students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Two weeks ago my family and I attended Carmina Burana performed at the Skylight Theater in Milwaukee. This was a much smaller scale than previous performances of this work. Seeing the music interpreted with dance, acting and a very small orchestra was thrilling and emotional in new ways.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What sort of music do I want to play?
How do I best learn, what process works best?
What are my goals (performing with ensembles or solo, composing for my instrument, being a musician for a living)?
