Tania J. says, "Marty is modest but it should be noted that he is an Emmy Award winner, songwriter & music publisher who is a guitar and music theory teacher. He is a graduate from the Berkeley school of music and is incredibly gifted. I have personally seen the results of his teaching guitar and mandolin as well as piano. He taught our daughter how to play piano. He has such a fun personality, he is hysterical and so great with kids. They adore him! Our daughter has blossomed under his direction both musically as well as her personal development. We are so grateful for all that Marty has taught her." Read more

Gerben K. says, "During our introductory lesson Bryan laid out his teaching style and program, and it matched what I wanted to learn exactly. My goal is to learn how to play the Bass without necessarily needing to remember songs entirely. I want to be able to pick up a bass guitar and play something, or play along with something, because I understand music, notes, composition, etc. Right from the get go it was obvious that's exactly what Bryan's goals for his students are as well, so it was a great fit. Bryan was the first of several teachers who responded to my request on lessons.com, and while I was planning on trying out a lesson with everyone and then making my decision, after my one lesson with Bryan I felt like there was no need as I had found what I was looking for. I am now three lessons in and very much liking the experience. Every week he teaches me something new about music theory and provides me with exercises that help me develop good technique and finger coordination. I would definitely recommend Bryan as a teacher for bass guitar. " Read more

Dana L. says, "I’ve been studying classical guitar with William (at his location) for about 6 months. Initially, he helped me find an instrument that would meet my needs and taught me how to care for it. I’d call him a connoisseur of classical acoustic guitars! He knows how they should sound and has valuable guidance to provide for beginning guitarists like me who may not be as able to see or hear the differences. I’m glad I got his advice before making a commitment / investment on a particular instrument. I am 46 and have a musical background (I already play both piano and trombone). William has very effectively adapted his teaching to fit with the skills I already have. In some cases that means speeding up and in other cases going back to basics to make sure I have the fundamentals down. His knowledge of music and musical instruments enables him to very effectively describe to experienced musicians how the guitar is different from what they are used to and what they’ll need to pay attention to. William has been very focused on the details of correct technique, preferring to slow down and work specific things rather than moving on or cutting corners for the sake of getting through the method materials. If you want to learn how to play completely, correctly, efficiently and without hurting yourself William is your teacher. One of the things I appreciate the most is William’s patience. He’s a stickler for correct technique so he doesn’t let errors slide, but he corrects in a way that is both helpful and encouraging. There’s no bit of guidance that he’s given me that, when I put it into practice, doesn’t dramatically help my progress. I’ve learned in a very short time to really listen to him. He knows what he’s talking about. I can wholeheartedly recommend William to anyone wanting to learn to play guitar. He’s one of the best music instructors I’ve ever had! I’m happy to answer anyone’s questions on my experiences with William or this review." Read more

Ed S. says, ""Michael Daniel is everything you'd ever want in a voice coach. If you're a beginner, he accepts you where you are without judgment and builds from there, giving you confidence every step of the way. He breaks down songs into elements you didn't even know existed, and teaches you how to sing effectively in a well-thought-out, methodical way that's also a lot of fun. It's amazing how fast you can start to see progress if you follow his instructions. I've been taking lessons from Michael for about seven months now. I appreciate his patience, his talent, his willingness to answer my questions, his sense of humor, and his total dedication to my musical education. I look forward to my lessons every single week!" Mike S. says, "Matt has been my guitar teacher over the past year and his help has been very significant in my improvement as a guitar player. Matt has helped me through multiple songs such as the Allman Brothers version of “Stormy Monday”, “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi and Led Zeppelins “Gallows Pole”. More importantly Matt has definitely improved my rhythm playing as well as my ability to play solos. He has also taught me about the role of the guitar player in a band and relates that role to rhythm, chords and solos that are played. He provided a structure that helped me better learn the fret board. Matt is very competent with music theory and conveys what is necessary for the student to be more competent and further enjoy playing guitar. At each of our lessons Matt demonstrates his expertise in music and guitar. Additionally, and important to me, is that Matt represents and conducts himself in a polite and professional manner. He is easy and fun to work with and cares about the success of his students." Read more

  • Read what others said about them on Google and on the Lessons website.

  • What should I bring to class, and how long is each lesson?
  • Can I have a copy of our class plan, agreement, and how much it costs?
  • If I have an urgent problem and need to cancel, what happens?
  • Can I choose some songs that I want to learn?

Kevin's depth of knowledge abut classical guitar has made such an impact on my son. We appreciate that Kevin individualizes his lessons and always has suggestions of which song to study next to build skill that's not only technical but builds artistic talent as well. Kevin has invested in our son for 4 years, and we are so pleased with the results of lessons.

I am 48 years old and started taking lessons from William a few months ago. William is very patient and thorough. I have learned more in these few months than I have in all the years I have been trying to teach myself. I would highly recommend William if you are looking for a guitar instructor, regardless of your background or specific music style interest.

"My dream was to be able to play guitar like a rock star. A few years ago, I decided to give that a try. From the very beginning, I knew that I could never learn how to play guitar using those self-taught methods taught through books or videos. Michael Daniel was the first and the only guitar instructor I worked with. After our first meeting, I knew he was the right guy and there was no need for me to seek another. Michael is an extremely talented musician with a sincere interest in teaching. His lessons offer a cohesive and measurable program of study tailored to address the student’s weaknesses within the framework of their personal interests and objectives. In the six years I’ve been studying with Michael, I have never disappointed. I was a newbie when I first met him and didn’t even know how to hold a guitar correctly. In just few months, I was able to play one of the songs I brought to him. Along the way he had taught me everything from basic chords, to lead soloing techniques, to music theory that I can use to write my own music.Today, I have developed solid skills in both lead and rhythm playing, and is able to play different guitar parts from an incredible variety of song collections from those of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Bon Jovi, Bob Dylan to Zeppelin and many others. As far as I can tell, Michael is incredibly knowledgeable in virtually all aspects of the instrument, from technique to theory to song composition, and he knows how to teach to keep you engaged and excited about what you’re doing. He also has unbelievable ear hearing and can transcribe any song into a guitar tab for you to play with your favorite guitarists. Bottom line — if you think you need guitar lessons, come to visit Michael. He has helped to make my music dream come true. He can do the same to you too!"
