Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session is free.. I will have you fill out a health history form and go over any injury related issues, limitations or exercise related concerns. Then go over goals and discuss a program and nutrition plan based on goals. Measurements and assessment up to the individuals preference.
I teach each client a good warm up prior to each session, cardio, a proper cool down and stretches they should do with suspension straps, foam roller and stabilty ball. I give them instructions and tips via email as well.
Then the workouts depend on the clients goals and starting point. Everyone is different. Typically for a client out of shape I will start them with fullbody circuit training with more cardio than weights. As they progress, I then may split up their muscle groups if they can handle it :)

How did you get started teaching?
Sports have always been a big part of my life and I was always active as a little kid. However I ate constant junk food and was a little over weight til I hit highschool. I then made changes with my eating and fell in love with running and conditioning. After high school I coached junior high and junior varsity basketball. I enjoyed running conditioning drills and my love for fitness and coaching started there.
My brother and my uncle were big influences on me with fitness. I was a very skinny kid at 18 with little muscle :)
I tagged along with them to the gym and it soon became a hobby. I was never really into heavy weight lifting but I enjoyed resistance training and cardio. Once I saw "personal trainers" get paid to help others I wanted to do the same. I got my first job at a training studio in 2004. I was fortunate to work and learn from what I still consider the very best today. It's still a hobby today, I continue learning and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with my clients.
