Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I do, is attempt to determine exactly what the client is looking for in the training class. This enables me to tailor the training to the clients specific needs and ensures that the training will meet the clients expectations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a US Marine Gulf War Veteran and retired Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) with 29 total years of experience. I served 28 total years as a LEO firearms and tactics instructor and 23 years on SWAT.
The last five years of my 24 year full time LEO career, I served full time as the senior instructor at our training facility. After I retired I served part time for five more years as the training officer for a municipal department.

How did you get started teaching?
I was selected as a member of the training cadre for our agency for both firearms and tactics training.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students from no experience to very experienced including military, law enforcement, corporate security and civilian clients.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Research the instructors background. Besides having practical experience,
be certain he or she has a solid teaching background.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I recommend they reflect on specifically what they want to get out of the training and then find a course at their level to accomplish that goal. Be sure the instructor is capable of delivering that course or level of instruction.
