My favorite thing about teaching is when communication between the student and me is brilliant, and that light bulb goes off in the student's eyes.
Robin has been sewing for over fifty years and was a dress designer in formal bridal and social occasion dresses with over three hundred accounts in the United States and around the world. Her undergraduate work was in painting and design from Temple University and Tyler School of Art. She taught design principles in Architecture at Temple University, Jewelry Design at Moore College of Art and design principles, and Art History at Montgomery County Community College. Concurrently she had a successful Jewelry Design firm, where she created and sold her work to many galleries and department stores. Her terminal degree, an MBA from Tulane University helped her take many start-ups from zero to over a million dollars in sales within three years. While still living in New Orleans she taught a fashion boot camp at her favorite non-profit RickRack Nola. Her passion for technology and art drives her each day, which is why she can teach you virtually from her fantastic studio in Tucson, AZ. Robin firmly believes that a finished piece of clothing or art project is a huge confidence builder, empowers an individual to solve problems, and satisfies the soul.

How did you get started teaching?
After being a successful Jewelry designer a professor in Architecture at Temple University asked me if I wanted to teach basic design and drawing. That was the beginning of my teaching career.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I just finished a beautiful jacket for my best friend. She received it and we spoke over the phone while she opened it. Pictures will be available on my website soon, as I will blog about it as well. I didn't want to publish anything about it until she received it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you like the teacher and the teacher likes you. Otherwise, it will be a very uncomfortable situation.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What it is they want to learn and how they feel most comfortable to learn it.
