My teaching approach: My desire is to help each student achieve their goals by making music fun & applicable to their needs and situation, directing them towards proficiency and self-sufficiency. I taught private guitar lessons and in many music stores for over 40 years, guitar courses in college for 6 years, in a performing arts charter high school for 4 years, and in elementary/middle school for 8 years. My influences are: Too many to mention, but you can start with the folksingers from the 50's to the 60's, the rock.pop, and blues players from the 50's to today. Noelle recently graduated from University of Auckland majoring in Classical Performance (and Psychology), under the guidance of Rae de Lisle. She is originally from Japan, where she began taking piano lessons at age four from Mayumi Iwasaki, a graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts. Here in Japan, she had successfully competed in one of the biggest regional competitions, where she obtained second place. After moving to New Zealand at age thirteen, she has had the opportunity to study with some of the most recognized pianists here — including Gillian Bibby, Catherine McKay and Rachel Thompson. Some of her highlights in piano performance inc

Ed S. says, ""Michael Daniel is everything you'd ever want in a voice coach. If you're a beginner, he accepts you where you are without judgment and builds from there, giving you confidence every step of the way. He breaks down songs into elements you didn't even know existed, and teaches you how to sing effectively in a well-thought-out, methodical way that's also a lot of fun. It's amazing how fast you can start to see progress if you follow his instructions. I've been taking lessons from Michael for about seven months now. I appreciate his patience, his talent, his willingness to answer my questions, his sense of humor, and his total dedication to my musical education. I look forward to my lessons every single week!" I have been a full-time piano teacher for 40 years. I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to share the gift of music with so many people. I have played professionally, taught music in an elementary school, and in 1973 stated my own School of Piano. I teach classical piano, theory and ccomposition. I also teach other styles of music including blues and jazz, playing using lead sheets (playing using chords), playing by ear and learning to write your own music. My specialty is teaching students who are burned out on traditional piano instruction. My biggest compliment is to hear that former students own a piano and play regularl...

I have played guitar for 57 years. Most important, I work with my students where they are, helping them evolve at their own natural pace without pressure. My teaching is supportive, yet very effective. I love helping people find their voice on this wonderful instrument that has meant so much in my life as a performer and creator.

Marie H. says, "I have been taking guitar lessons from Jeremy Avalos since Jan. 16, 2020. In the beginning my father-in-law was taking lessons with me. He is now 95 years old and has wanted to learn to play the guitar ever since he was a young man. Due to his eyesight and memory problems he had to stop. I was really impressed with Jeremy's kindness and understanding and desire to teach him. He was very patient and took extra time to help him. I was very nervous in the beginning, because I was afraid of making many mistakes. It wasn't long before my confidence grew and I am now feeling more confident in my ability to play for myself and my family. I am very impressed with Jeremy's teaching skills, his compassion and patience. I look forward to learning more from him. I highly recommend Jeremy to anyone interested in learning to play the guitar!! He is very knowledgeable and a very talented guitar player!! Sincerely, Marie Hurst " Read more

"My dream was to be able to play guitar like a rock star. A few years ago, I decided to give that a try. From the very beginning, I knew that I could never learn how to play guitar using those self-taught methods taught through books or videos. Michael Daniel was the first and the only guitar instructor I worked with. After our first meeting, I knew he was the right guy and there was no need for me to seek another. Michael is an extremely talented musician with a sincere interest in teaching. His lessons offer a cohesive and measurable program of study tailored to address the student’s weaknesses within the framework of their personal interests and objectives. In the six years I’ve been studying with Michael, I have never disappointed. I was a newbie when I first met him and didn’t even know how to hold a guitar correctly. In just few months, I was able to play one of the songs I brought to him. Along the way he had taught me everything from basic chords, to lead soloing techniques, to music theory that I can use to write my own music.Today, I have developed solid skills in both lead and rhythm playing, and is able to play different guitar parts from an incredible variety of song collections from those of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Bon Jovi, Bob Dylan to Zeppelin and many others. As far as I can tell, Michael is incredibly knowledgeable in virtually all aspects of the instrument, from technique to theory to song composition, and he knows how to teach to keep you engaged and excited about what you’re doing. He also has unbelievable ear hearing and can transcribe any song into a guitar tab for you to play with your favorite guitarists. Bottom line — if you think you need guitar lessons, come to visit Michael. He has helped to make my music dream come true. He can do the same to you too!"

Jeremy is a patient and kind instructor. I have taken uke lessons for a year with him. He listens to what I would like to learn and understands how to teach adults. I liked him so much that I bought lessons for my God daughters who are 13 and 10 years old. Even ADHD didn't deter Jeremy from teaching guitar and uke. Because of the Pandemic, we switched to online lessons, Jeremy is just a good in person or online.

Taking piano lessons from Patti is something I look forward to each week. I am committed to practice every day for an hour & a half. And although I will probably never play in Carnegie Hall, I will be able to play carols, oldies but goodies and in general enjoy the music! Patti is making it an enjoyable and attainable experience for me! I recommend taking lessons the way Patti teaches them whether you are young or older (like I am!).
