Moving Breath Pilates
About
Virginia Nicholas, M.A., R.N. has owned and operated Moving Breath Pilates for 20 years. Services provided include Pilates, Gyrotonic, Exercise Rehabilitation, and Teacher Training. Virginia was one of six teachers in the United States "hand chosen" by Michele Larsson to carry on the Pilates tradition of Joseph Pilates and Eve Gentry.
I am grateful to watch students grow and achieve goals they set for themselves. Whether that is relief from pain, or becoming an accomplished professional athlete (and anything in between), gives me a sense fulfillment.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
A student usually contacts me via email or phone. A history of the client's injuries, illnesses, experience, and goals are discussed. During our first meeting, a postural analysis is completed to assess possible imbalances in the body. The first session explores the client's movement abilities using the Pilates equipment. An intake form is completed to determine the client's goals and aspirations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters Degree in Theatre and Dance with an emphasis on kinesiology. I have a Bachelors Degree in Political Science, pre-law. I am a Registered Nurse with extensive background in ICU, CCU, and Emergency Room Nursing. I am also a certified Gyrotonic Instructor. I danced professionally for most of my life, and bring the above tools/skills together to deliver the best experiences to my clients.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, there is standard pricing for lessons. A single session with me is $83.00. A 20 session package is $1411.00, which is approximately 470.00 per session. There are also 5 and 10 packs available.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elite, professional athletes as well as clients with serious physical issues. I have numerous professional dancers, lawyers, accountants, students, hairdressers, professors, etc. as clients. People come from all walks of life, and if they want to improve their physical being and become more fit and centered, they are welcome at my studio.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do your homework. Check the length of time the person has been teaching, where they were trained, do they own a studio (because they are usually more dedicated and invested), do they run a Teacher Training program, do they have extensive experience in working with your issues and concerns? When you met the teacher, you should feel a resonance with their energy and teaching.
