I really enjoy the artistry of sewing and find great satisfaction passing along that joy. Sewing is a great artistic outlet but refashioning things is also very eco friendly. Knowing your sewing machine and its capabilities is very important to being able to enjoy your sewing time so I like to make sure my students understand how the machine works and what it's capable of doing for them.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to make sure my students understand their sewing machine before starting projects. The next steps vary depending on age and skill level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My parents owned a sewing store when I was growing up. I learned directly from sewing manufacturers on how to use various brands of machines. We had. Fabric store next door so I used to make most of my clothes. As a teenager I could make a izod style tshirt in 20 minutes. I started teaching sewing in my 20s all through college. I taught garment construction, quilting, and machine instruction classes. Now that I'm semi retired I am getting back into teaching.
