    Frequently asked questions

Every student begins with a complimentary session that lasts about 90 minutes. This includes a consultation, postural/movement assessments, and a workout. The work starts from wherever you are... if you are a beginner, then the beginning. If you are advanced, then we push your body, safely but with energy and intelligence!

I earned my ACE (American Council on Exercise) fitness certification in 1998. Apex Nutrition certification in 2007, and STOTT PILATES equipment and mat certifications in 2010, all levels, plus ISP... Injuries and Special Conditions. I have a great interest in and am currently taking coursework to better help the scoliosis community through Pilates. I used to be a competitive track runner/jumper and tennis player. Now, into my late 50's, I still run and mountain bike with a good degree of intensity, with the assistance of my almost daily Pilates practice!

    Private sessions are $80. Semi-privates are $40.

A trained artist and professional writer, I worked in Business Communications agencies for 15 years. The rigorous deadline-oriented pace and travel was very hard on my body, lifestyle, and spirit. I had always been a serious athlete, so in 1998 I earned my first fitness certification. By year 2000, I left agency work to teach full-time and never looked back!

I work mostly with people in their 40's through their 80's. My oldest student is 88! My students have varying skills and goals. Some are fresh from the physical therapist... I safely bring their bodies back to better. Others want general fitness or a focus on sport specific training like golf and tennis. Others are already elite athletes desiring fine-tuning, additional performance, flexibility, and injury prevention. Some of my favorite students are in their 80's. They benefit from Pilates' functional fitness and balance exercises as well as the social and heart connection that we have formed.

When interviewing Pilates instructors, they should be very interested in learning about any special conditions you might have, what your Pilates experience is, what kind of body movement you have done in the past and what you are currently doing. They also should take a look at your whole body posture to know how to better program your sessions. A good instructor will take this information to start you at the right place, progress the work effectively, and keep you safe.
