About

Progress Over Perfect Basketball is a player development consultation company I have started to help my clients see improvemnets in both in life and the game of basketball. This goes deeper then just hours and hours in the gym with my clients, film study, and statistical breakdowns. To fully improve one's basketball game I need to get the player incrementally better both in terms of the actual aspect of physically changing techniques, explaining concepts in new and more digestible ways, and improving their physical stamina and training habits surrounding the game of basketball as well as attacking their mental decencies and creating an environment in which my clients can escape their challenges, hindrances, and distractions to obtain maximum progress and results.

Basketball is my passion; I love playing basketball, however, I love helping others succeed and thrive along their own basketball journey even more. I have always resented the idea of trying to gain fame or exploit others through teaching the game of basketball and helping others along their journey AS LONG AS I AM NOT BEING EXPLOITED MYSELF.

I pride myself in pushing my clients and creating a challenging workout before starting the session. The goal is to get your heart rate and oxygen levels similar to how they would show in a game during our warm up to simulate game like situations. This creates and encourages mistakes and pitfalls, which is a beneficial thing and results in growth both mentally and physically. However, I want you to be confident in me to keep those moments being behind closed doors, hence the lack of social media presence or notoriety, and really want to ensure we have a environment that makes you feel completely comfortable and locked in on getting 1% better as well as embracing and learning from those mistakes while working.

I want to connect my client and this Progress Over Perfect Family and open doors through the game of basketball to network and build their own relationships both in the world of basketball as well as the world away from the game. I want to use Progress Over Perfect to keep everyone connected and in the know so we can all build a support system to uplift each other through the grind and in life!!

Relationships + Constancy

Preparation + Sacrifice

Progress + Creativity

I have had the game of basketball in my life since I was the age of 3 and was born with a coach as my father and can vividly remember falling in love with the game. I essentially enjoy seeing others process and the devolping a love and joy within this game. I played high level basketball and ended up attending and playing four years at Bishop O'Dowd High School men's basketball team and was a four year varsity starter, after receiving a full scholarship to Metro State University I decided to instead attend Prolific Prep to complete a gap year focused solely on improving in basketball. In the middle of my gap year the pandemic hit and because of not wanting to accept the scholarships on the table I decided to begin training my former teammates and close friends through competition who trusted me with their development and have not looked back since! A couple of my clients include; Marlon Short (CSU Stanislaus), Damiri Lindo (Holy Names University), Brenden Patrick (Lewis & Clark University), Cameron Brown (UC Merced), and Wrenn Robinson (Cal) to name a few. I do this because of my love for the game of basketball and how much I believe the game can teach you about yourself and life. I appreciate seeing people go through a process of improvement which is only possible through mistakes and failure, I appreciate connecting with people first though the game of basketball but then on a human level, I appreciate "the process" and the slow grind of trying to get a little bit better daily and stacking days on days!

I started working with Niko during the month of July. Since then, I have worked out countless times with him in a group and individual setting. My experience from day 1 has been an investment into developing and refining my basketball skills. Niko watches films, comes to games, and breaks down reads which has smoothed transition to playing at UC Berkeley. Anybody who is interested in investing in the process of bettering your basketball IQ and skill set should work with Niko.
