Clay Banks Studio International is home to some of the best acting classes in Los Angeles. Founded by SAG-AFTRA Master Coach Clay Banks, CBSI offers on-camera acting classes with additional training in audition technique, cold reading, scene study, career counseling and more.
My first experience with CBSI was a free workshop. I had been on the hunt for a new studio to train at and literally had a list of criteria I wanted and needed in a studio and training. As the workshop progressed I was blown away at the number of my criteria this studio met. My heart began to pound with excitement, and I said, “Lord, is this (CBSI) where you’re going to have me study and train??? Cuz if it is, I’m STOKED!!! And it was. I absolutely LOVE it here!!! And am SOOOOO grateful to have found this place. It truly is a GOD send, no joke. I am attending 5 classes a week and still can't get enough of it. There is SOOOOO much I could say about this place, the people and the coaching that you might get tired of reading. So I’ll be somewhat brief. ● Two cameras are always running for scene work (monologues, audition tech, etc.). You leave each class with a video copy of your work, with coaches notes included. And you are expected to review them prior to the next class. ● TIme is not wasted. Five minute breaks don’t turn into 15 or 20 mins. ● ORGANIZED and structured!!! OMG, I was thrilled to see the amount of organization this studio has. It’s one of the many reasons it flows so smoothly, AND makes learning efficient and constructive. The teaching isn’t scattered, hit-n-miss, etc ….. One thing builds on another. You don’t feel like you’re floundering and or without direction. It’s awesome!!!! ● You get more than ya bargain for. ● This studio has amazing teachers, staff, and students. I thoroughly enjoy everyone of them. There is a comradery, cohesiveness, team spirit and just all around great vibe that exists here at CBSI ● Clay is very articulate, has great analogy to drive home an important point. He is creative, always learning himself AND then bringing to the class the things he learns so we can benefit from it. He is a great example of someone who absolutely loves what he is doing, and does his job and passion to the best of his ability. He is always looking to make things better in the studio, whether it’s with his teaching, studio operations, or himself personally. The other coaches are awesome in their own ways. All are exciting, passionate, knowledgeable and active in the industry. THere is so much to experience here and I am thrilled to be here and soak in everything I can. Check out the website and look into attending one of the free workshops that are held every other Weds. and experience some of the greatness yourself.
I can't put into words how amazing this studio is. I've been able to develop in my craft of acting at an entirely new level. I'm always amazed at how Clay Banks takes his time with every student and pushes us to be the best that we can be! Tough love goes a long way and makes a heck of an actor.
Theatre background, looking to transition into Film & TV, found CBSI. When I moved to Los Angeles a few years ago, I knew that my background in stage/theatre wasn't going to cut it in a film town, so I set to work finding an on-camera acting studio. What I found was a lot more than just a studio. CBSI is a community and it's a holistic actor training facility. They don't just train on one particular aspect of the craft, like cold reading or audition technique, they train on everything so that students are well-rounded actors and human beings. There are additional teachings on a regular basis on things like health and nutrition, finances, mindset, etc., all with the goal and intention of building better people, who in turn become better and more successful actors.
