About

I think my coaching and tutoring stands out because I have had such a diverse career and can bring my years of experience to each student/client.

I have been a working professional in the entertainment industry for many years. Acting, writing, directing (theater), producing, public speaking, and creative development executive for film and TV - just some of my work. I have a B.F.A in Theater Arts and Communications. I am an excellent communicator and I am confident that I have the skills to encourage and bring out the very best in everyone. Additionally, I have also worked with actors and corporate executives on accent reduction, conversational English, and public speaking. I firmly believe that everyone has the potential to succeed at whatever they set their sights upon. My optimism and resilience, coupled with my professional experience, are my strengths. I have heard more no's turn into yes's than you can imagine. At times, surprising even to me. The various positions I have held on both sides of the camera and stage give me a unique perspective into what a director, producer, and casting director are looking for when they cast their productions.

I look forward to and truly enjoy meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals. I am positive and supportive as well as being a patient and dedicated professional. Building confidence in your abilities and working to make your knowledge and skill set meet your aspirations is what I plan to achieve. Seeing that progress is the most gratifying part of my work. My goal is to point you in the right direction, to inform and assist you, to share my years of experience and personal knowledge, and to be there cheering you on, so you can continue on your path with confidence. It's up to you to meet me half-way. Seeing your success is my success. Please view my entertainment credits on imdb. com. Active member of SAG/AFTRA and Actor's Equity.

Kandice is great! She is very kind and welcoming. Even from the first session I started to be more aware of the pronounciation mistakes I had been doing, and, most importantly, with her help, I learnt very fast how to improve the way I speak. I highly recommend Kandice as a coach!

Kandice worked with me as my acting coach. She was brilliant. She knew how to break down the scene so easily and found things I never would have thought of. I went into my audition feeling confident and excited. I would recommend her to anyone. She is straightforward and clear. Loved working with her.

    Frequently asked questions

Each client comes with different needs and expectations. At the first session, I like to talk with my client to discuss their specific goals. At that time, I can determine the level at which they are currently performing and in that conversation, I can lay out some of my ideas/methods for getting started on the process. Depending upon the specific area, we can establish an initial plan of action. That plan can and will be adjusted based upon the progress. Of course, this applies to continuing sessions only. The process varies depending upon whether it is acting, public speaking, accent reduction or conversational English for non-natives.  Again, at the first session, I will spend extra time (without charge, of course) to discuss and answer any questions.

I have a B.F.A. in Theater Arts and Communications.  In NYC, I studied with Uta Hagen, Warren Robertson and Larry Moss, while doing commercials, theater, film and televsion work.  I came to LA to star in a film with Jodie Foster, FOXES. In LA, I studied with Larry Moss (again) and took comedy and improvisational classes with The Groundlings and The Harvey Lembeck Studios. I have work as an actor, writer, producer, creative development exec and theater director. I've been on both sides of the camera and stage, so I am well versed in production, casting, etc. Over the years, I extended my coaching to public speaking, working with business executives.  My years in this industry in different jobs and areas have been a tremendous benefit to my skills.  While working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, I started coaching (actors, business execs, and people who just wanted to be understood) for accent reduction and conversational English. Coming from a multi-lingual household and environment, coupled with my theater and communication experience, I found that I was able to expand my coaching into a broader arena.

I read the information initially provided. While I am to assertain the basics a client's needs, experience has taught me that the first session is the best barometer for determining what is a realistic start. If we determine that additional sessions will be advantageous to making specific progress within a limited time, then I will adjust my hourly fee to accommodate that change/increase. I am open to discussing fees in person to give you a more detailed understanding of my pricing.

A few years after my daughter was born I started to gradually take on a few clients for private coaching because that allowed me the freedom to be a mom and still be creative.  I found that I really enjoyed that work. Eventually, I worked as a creative executive developing material for film and television which I also produced. Gradually, I started to get more involved in private coaching and even broadened to public speaking for corporate executives and accent reduction and conversational English for non-natives. I joined a theater company and started to do more directing which was very rewarding.  Working with actors is a collaborative experience and I always learn from each experience.  I am very comfortable working with people who need accent reduction or more confidence in their conversational English.  I've had clients/students from all over the world.

I have worked with students at all levels and with varying skill sets.  Some have been in preparation for specific roles for film or television.  Also, I have helped actors prepare for auditions in both comedy and drama, film and television. There isn't as much theater in LA as there is in NYC, so upon rare occasions, I do get some theater prep student or those auditioning for college entry into a theater program.

With public speaking, my clients are usually prepping for conferences, presentations, seminars, etc.  As an acting coach, I help them become more truthful and relaxed both physically and vocally.  Also, it is important to keep energy up, to engage the audience, so you can hold interest and attention.

My coaching for conversational English and accent reduction is an extension of work that I have done with actors.  While the focus is different, it really is about communication.  Everyone wants to be understood.

This isn't really applicable to my recent coaching. Unless, I am directing a play or helping someone with a Ted Talk or public speaking presentation, all my work is on a one-on-one basis for personal development.

Take a first meeting and see how it feels.  It's important to have good communication with your coach because it is a collaborative process.  To be free to act, you need to trust your coach. Sometimes that takes a few sessions and sometimes, you just know from the beginning.

Make a list of WHAT you want.  Then, make a list of HOW you think you can get there.  Share that with your coach and get his/her insights.  Talk it out. Listen to what your coach has to contribute.  Ultimately, your list will change because that's just a reality.  And that is progress.
