Brenda C. says, "My daughter has been working with Jennifer at Music4Me for seven years (since age 9). Suffice it to say that we would not have continued for that many years if Jennifer were not a truly exceptional teacher and mentor. From the very first lesson, Jennifer created a warm, positive, and supportive environment that helped my daughter feel confident and excited to learn. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also patient, encouraging, and passionate about her work. My daughter has grown so much under Jennifer’s guidance. Her vocal range, control, and technique have improved noticeably, but even more importantly, so has her self-confidence. Jennifer celebrates her progress every step of the way, and it’s clear she truly cares about her students' success. If you're looking for a vocal coach who is skilled, kind, and genuinely invested in helping young singers thrive, I can’t recommend Jennifer highly enough!" Read more

Welcome to Kye Harris Music Academy, where the joy of music meets the art of teaching. My name is Kye, and I am passionate about sharing the love of music with my students. My journey in music began at the age of four, when my grandmother introduced me to the world of classical piano. Since then, music has been a central part of my life. Growing up in the vibrant church communities throughout Chicago, I developed my skills on piano, bass, guitar, drums, and vocals. This foundation led me to form a pop-rock band with my brothers, a venture that culminated in a major record deal with Sony Epic Records. Over the years, I've had the privilege of

How much do electric guitar lessons cost near me?

Electric guitar lessons cost $35 to $70 per session with lengths of 30 to 60 minutes each. Private tuition costs $45 to $70 per hour, while group sessions are more wallet-friendly at $25 to $35 per class.

  • For ongoing classes, you'll pay $170 to $315 per month with the prepaid discount.
  • Online lessons cost anywhere from $35 to $55 per hour and let you jam with a teacher from the comfort of your own home.

Are electric guitar lessons worth it?

Electric guitar lessons are worth it if you want to learn more at a faster pace, develop a better technique, and get customized instructions to improve your style. Only an experienced electric guitar player can understand how to help you improve, so don't settle for a general guitar instructor.

What age is good to start electric guitar lessons?

A good age for kids to start electric guitar lessons is from 6 to 10 years old. Another indication they're ready to learn is whenever they're physically able to hold the guitar and have the hand strength to press the strings.

Adults of all ages can also start electric guitar lessons at any time. With the right guidance and consistent practice, anyone can master the electric guitar.

How many lessons does it take to learn electric guitar?

The number of lessons it takes you to learn electric guitar depends on your goals and how much time you dedicate to practicing those epic solos. Playing a simple tune might take 2 to 6 months of weekly classes.

If you're aiming to rock out like a pro, expect a time investment of 4 to 10 years.

Are acoustic and electric guitar lessons the same?

Acoustic and electric guitar lessons aren't the same because these are two entirely different instruments with unique equipment features.

Learning to play electric guitar requires:

  • Knowing how to use an amplifier and pedals that create sound effects
  • Understanding how to adjust the speaker connection
  • Knowledge of genres like rock, metal, blues, and jazz
  • Special techniques like power chords, palm muting, and string bending

Learning to play an acoustic guitar means you focus on classical, folk, country, pop, or blues music. A pick is optional in acoustic lessons, and you don't need amplifiers or cables. Acoustic teachers also place more emphasis on fingerpicking patterns.

How do I find the best electric guitar lessons near me?

You can find the best electric guitar lessons nearby to suit your needs by checking out our teacher listings her on the Lessons website. Your local music stores are also great places to start when scouting for the best guitar instructors.

Before making a decision, you should:

  • Compare prices from 3 different teachers and ask what their lessons include.
  • Check out their reviews on Google and Lessons.
  • Request for a references list of past students to verify their track record.
  • Ask for opinions from other parents on what their kids think of the teacher.
  • Obtain a written schedule and contract before the first lesson.
  • Pay for a couple of sessions to see what you think before fully committing to a month's worth of lessons.

What questions do I ask when choosing an electric guitar teacher?

Ask potential electric guitar teacher these questions before hiring:

  • Did you study music in school, and what qualifications did you earn?
  • How long have you been teaching electric guitar?
  • Can I sample a lesson to gauge if your teaching style suits me?
  • What's the average age of your students?
  • What type of electric guitar would you recommend for me?
  • Will you assign homework, and how much practice should I put in?
  • What resources or books would you recommend for learning electric guitar?
  • Can you adapt your teaching methodology if I'm struggling with a concept?
  • What should I bring to class, and how long does each session last?
  • Could I get a copy of our timetable and contract terms?
  • What's your policy regarding missed classes due to unforeseen circumstances?
  • Can I choose some songs that I'd love to learn?

It is a true hidden gem!! Both of my son and daughter are having lessons, one plays guitar and one plays drum. The instructors are not only giving instrument lessons but they also guide both of my children into the musical world by teaching and encouraging them to form a band, composing their own songs and helping them exploring more type of musics! We are beyond grateful and feeling really lucky that we found them!! Thank you!

Jonah is an excellent guitar teacher for my 12 year old son. My son has some learning difficulties and Jonah has been great at being flexible, reading my son’s mood and pivoting the lesson in away my son always learns. Most importantly we have fun. We laugh, we jam, we create, and we always walk away glad we had our lesson. Jonah is also flexible with our schedule as well as the speed in which my son can learn, no rushing, no forcing something that isn’t working. We are finding a joy for music first and then we will grow our knowledge when we are ready. Jonah is also extremely talented and capable of shifting to a more structured and traditional lesson plan. I think that is his super power he can make the musical experience tailored to the student. He has been great and we are so glad we found him!
