I started gymnastics at the ripe age of two years old and competed until I was 18 years old when I won Worlds in 2007, and again in 2008 with my team in Miami Florida. Athletically it was something I knew I was meant to do since I was an infant flipping off of anything I could find! At the age of 15 is when I first discovered dance at my performing arts high school where I started taking classes regularly. I then went on to graduate and get a full ride scholarship to college for cheerleading and gymnastics at University of Central Florida. As a coach, I make sure to take time to talk with my gymnasts. I not only encourage them to push their bodies, but ensure their mind keeps up too. Gymnasts have the opportunity to learn elements of physiology, physics and psychology alongside the physical skills. I believe understanding will help anyone progress faster than aimlessly throwing their bodies around. I take the time to ask if gymnasts have questions to ensure their understanding.
