About

I'm an English, RADA trained actor (Three Year Course), offering classes focused on auditions and speaking Shakespeare.

I've been teaching acting for over ten years and have helped many students gain places to prodigious schools. I've also coached pro actors with screen and stage castings.

We start with body and breath and move onto actions. At RADA (The Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art, London) I was taught Shakesepare by William Gaskill (Royal National Theatre, Royal Court) and acting technique by Doreen Cannon (Uta Hagen trained).

My RADA traing brings together American method with the English traditions of speech and oratory.

I'm available Monday to Friday 8am-12 noon for Zoom/Skype coaching.

I like to see how a student/actor grows. How they find their strength. How they start to understand the journey towards making things simple, direct and fun.

Ive taken several courses with Peter, and he has opened so many acting doors for me. His approach is pragmatic, no-nonsense and crystal clear. This is not a place for dreamy narcissistic wallowing in pseudo emotions. It is a place where I understood that learning my lines, deciding on one or more actions in a scene, the use of my body, and the value of rehearsing until its right -- all seemingly mundane -- would create the magic moment of real acting. 90 percent work, and the final 10 percent, talent. Not the other way around. This worked for me, and everybody taking the same classes came ouf of them a better actor ... and probably with a few valuable lessons for life, too.

Ive been studying with Peter for 4 years.  In that time, Ive also attended many acting classes taught by other acting teachers at different UK drama schools, but Peter is by far the best acting teacher I have ever worked with.
He is extremely creative in his approach to any piece of text, and has always a lot of ideas to make any audition monologue interesting and original. I know that Ive been able to stand out in my auditions thanks to the smart choices he had offered me.
He is also very good at knowing what will suit each individual student and always gives very good suggestions that show the students strengths, and makes them show their best ability.
Peter has a great attention to details, and always finds a way to make my speeches stronger, rich and fresh.
Unlike many acting tutors who can be easily satisfied, Peter never runs out of advices to make a speech better and will push his students to achieve better performances.
His classes include a Physical Warm up, Voice exercises, Diction strenghtening, and work on the Breath, as well as a lot of Improvisation and imagination work.
His knowledge of theatre and film is extensive and especially Shakespeare that he understands very well.
Peter is very kind and generous, has a very cheerful and upbeat personality that made me immediately very comfortable.
Thanks to his preparation, I got offered places to study at the Guildford School of Acting, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, the American Musical Theatre Academy, and London College of Music.
I would highly recommend taking his classes to anyone who wants to train/work as a professional actor.

PJV STUDIO offers a welcoming environment to amateurs and professionals alike. I have always found Peter to be a caring and dedicated teacher who seeks the best in all his students. He provides real tools that encourage his students autonomy as actors/speakers/performers including for students who simply wish to gain confidence in their daily interactions in the home and workplace.

Wouldn’t have gotten into acting school if it weren’t for Peter’s help! An extremely encouraging and effective teacher.

We begin with a free 45 minute introductory session.

Then we agree on a course of lesson, eother a one off, a series of 5 or a series of ten: to be extended as you wish.

I find out what you are hoping to achieve. Where is your focus? Stage? Screen? Both? Perhaps you are a corporate client who wishes to improve their oratory skills?

My voice tutor also also Margaret Thatcher!

I've worked with serveral business professionals on presentation skills.

Here's a You Tube video of my approach to speaking a Shakesepare Sonnet:

I trianed as an actor at The Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art, London. The Three Year, full time course for professional actors.

(I was there at the same time as Sally Hawkins, Andrew Lincoln, Matthew Rhys).

I was also invited into bot hte BBC and the Royal National Theatre to train as a writer. I do also offer screenwriting classes.

    I offer 75 min classes.

    $50 for single classes (= $40 p/h)

    $225 for a course of 5 x 75 min classes (= $36 p/h)

    $400 for a course of 10 x 75 min classes (= $32 p/h)

If you pay in advance for a course of 5 classes, this is valid for 8 weeks; if you pay in advance for a course of 10 classes, this is valid for 15 weeks: so should you need to skip a week of two, you wont miss out on a class.

I can offer shorter/longer classes upon request.

I've been teaching all my adult life in one form or another.

But teaching became my number one focus ten years ago when I moved to Paris and set up an acting Meet Up. You can see details of pass classe here.

    https://www.meetup.com/PJV-Acting/

Though I've taught group classes in Shakespeare, modern monologues and scenes, and Acting On Camera; my main passion is working with individuals on their specific goals.

Each year I've helpd students gain places at the top drama schools, RADA, LAMDA, The Royal Scottish Academy and others.

I've also worked mainly with French acotrs preparing them for casting in US feature films and UK TV.

You may know your goal, you may not. Acting can be soemthign you have a strong clear idea about, or it may be simply an itch you wish to scratch, just to see... Either way, I'm happy to help.

The joke at RADA was that on the last day the Principal would invite you into his office and tell you "the secret of acting." Of course it doesn't work liek that, and each performer tries a variety of approaches, moving towards what works for you. If it works, use it, if not... lose it.

Acting technique is not some religious mantra, it's not holy. Think of it more like a sport. We train to do something physical. It's about body, breath and doing.

    What are your goals?

    What are weakness?

    What are you key interests?
